The project "O-DVA-JA-MO" officially started in Ivanjica

Today, the Project for household waste separation called "Odvajamo" was officially kicked off in Ivanjica. Within this project, Ivanjica received one truck, 84 containers, and 3,099 bins into which the citizens will be able to properly dispose of waste.


The event on the square in front of the Cultural Centre was attended by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Mrs. Ivana Hadži Stošić, EISP2 Program Manager Mr. John Glazebrook, Director of PUC "Ivanjica", Mr. Aleksandar Mitrović. All present and distinguished guests were greeted by the first man of Ivanjica, Mr. Momčilo Mitrović.

The youngest participants from pre-school "Bajka" opened the event with a ceremonial parade dressed in clothes made of recycled materials. This was followed by a quiz and “games without borders” in which children showed dexterity and knowledge of proper recycling and waste disposal.

Children from the lower grades of the elementary school "Milinko Kušić", the elementary school "Sreten Lazarevic" and the elementary school "Kirilo Savić" participated in the activities.


The goal of the Project for Household Waste Separation called "O-DVA-JA-MO" is to recycle part of the waste generated in households, in order to reduce the amount that ends up in landfills, in order to increase the recycling rate in these municipalities to 15% in the next two years.

The project "O-DVA-JA-MO" is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia with the assistance of the European Union and the Embassy of Sweden. The project provides expertise and equipment to local authorities in order to design and improve the on-site waste separation system.
