The second phase of distribution of bins for recyclable waste in the Municipality of Čajetina October 2022

KJP "Zlatibor" Čajetina started a month ago the distribution of green and blue bins among households in Čajetina, which are included in theProject for Household Waste Separationmo". During the first distribution, 143 households received bins for primary waste selection.

This week, the second phase of distribution of bins by households in Čajetina has begun, and this time 200 households have been included, and will be receive blue bins for the dry fraction and green bins for the wet fraction. Communal containers are chipped, and during their delivery to the household, collection by employees is mandatory, as is the accompanying contract, which is signed with the users.

"The educators start work at half past ten, and in the period from 9:30 to 14:30, several teams will distribute sets of buckets, as was done last time. The residents can say how many sets they need, we bring one set at the start but if it's a multi-member family or a multi-family house, it's best that they immediately take more sets for their household. It is necessary to mention that everyone places the bins next to the road," said Vera Blagojević, head of the Service for Communal Affairs.

Competent authorities in Čajetina estimate that the project in this municipality is being implemented with great success. At the end of September, JKP "Zlatibor" Čajetina delivered 1,380 kg of recyclables, 97% purity. This data is an indicator that the primary selection in the territory of the municipality of Čajetina is going in the right direction, and that the separation of waste at the place of its origin is gradually entering the daily routine of the users included in the project.

"I hope that we will introduce these 200 households much more easily, because we are now ready for the situations that we encountered in the past month, and it seems to me that we are much more prepared to enter this project, and it is also a relief that the new users have already heard from their neighbors how everything works," said Blagojević.

The collection of recyclable waste in Čajetina takes place as part of the "O-dva-ja-mo" project, which is implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the European Union and the Swedish Embassy. The Project for Household Waste Separation "O-dva-ja-mo" aims to establish a waste separation system in 17 municipalities of Serbia at the place of origin by investing in equipment and in informing citizens about the advantages of separating household waste, for its later successful recycling and reduction of the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.
